Alabama is in a Time Warp
Sexual harassment allegations are bringing down movie producers, actors and network executives. Harvey Weinstein should be arrested soon based on the numerous women who have accused him of sexual assault. Bill Cosby is well into his journey to try to prove his innocence of many allegations of unwanted advances. I cannot imagine the pain that many women feel at having been used by men in power. There are no winners when it comes to sexual harassment. The latest allegations have come against Senate candidate Roy Moore. They could not have come at a worse time for the Republican party.
Former Judge Roy Moore is supposedly a Christian conservative. I am a Christian and we just seem to be on opposite sides of the fence when it comes to spiritual values. In fact, I wonder if we are praying to the same Jesus Christ. There was a painting of Jesus Christ, according to Leonardo da Vinci, that just sold for $450 million. It is a European interpretation of how Jesus looked. The historical figure we know as Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem. It was a town located in a very hot area that connected to Israel, Lebanon and Syria. Jesus would have been brown skinned and had darker hair. We can debate that later.

Roy Moore apparently had a penchant for women that were much younger than he was. In fact, his wife was in class with one of his accusers. Roy seems to have signed her yearbook and now wants a handwriting expert to refute the fact that he ever met this young girl. At least eight accusers have come forward to corroborate the fact that he made unwanted advances towards them when they were teenagers. Because of his 'strong faith' and unflinching Christian values many Alabamians are standing behind him in his quest to win a Senate seat. Even the governor of Alabama, Kay Ivey, believes some of his accusers. She is so opposed to a Democrat winning the race that she will support Roy Moore.
President Trump has refused to criticize Roy Moore for his salacious behavior. He immediately criticized Senator Al Franken from Minnesota when it was revealed that he stuck his tongue in a woman's mouth without her consent. This is the same Donald Trump who also has 13 women who claimed that he made unwanted advances towards them. He bragged on Access Hollywood that he could do whatever he wanted because of his celebrity status. I cannot repeat what he acutally said because one of my students might read my blog one day. Many reporters are waiting for him to condemn the actions of Roy Moore. Steve Bannon will not. Evangelical Christians will not. Groping teenage girls is okay as long as you believe in God and deny that you ever did it.
Almost 50 pastors have supposedly signed a letter supporting the strong values espoused by Roy Moore. He was removed from the Supreme Court twice in Alabama. Once for not removing a statue of the Ten Commandments. Another time he was removed for refusing to recognize same sex marriages. He feels that Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota should not be in Congress because he is a Muslim. He pulled out a gun while giving a political speech. How can a twice removed politician be the poster boy for Alabama values? When one of you figure it out, let me know. December 12th will be a very pivotal day for Alabama and the country.
